Appointment Booking Policy
Bookings
When you book an appointment at Fox Hair Design in Barwell we may ask you to pay a small deposit to secure your booking. The deposit will be used against your final bill. Deposits are only refundable or transferable providing you give us with 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange your appointment. We reserve the right to retain your deposit to cover the losses we incur as a result of not receiving sufficient notice to change or cancel your appointment.
Appointments are very important to the team at Fox Hair Design in Barwell. Your appointment is reserved especially for you and, whilst we understand that sometimes changes are necessary, we respectfully ask that you let us know at least 48 hours in advance so that your chair can be offered to someone on our waiting list who needs a little pampering. We really appreciate your help with this.
Allergy Testing
Fox Hair Design is a colour responsible salon.
Your safety is our upmost importance.
Before your first colour service with Fox Hair Design, you must make arrangements for a colour allergy test. If you opt for traditional Allergy Alert Testing over Colourstart you will also need a new colour allergy test if you have coloured your hair at home, if it has been more than six months since your last hair colour appointment, or if you have had your hair coloured at another salon since your last colour appointment. Allergy Alert Tests must take place at least 48 hours before a colour service appointment. We respectfully request that you remain in salon whilst dye stuff is in contact with your skin. The appointment for an Allergy Alert Test takes approximately one hour.
If an allergy test is not performed in good time, your appointment will be cancelled, this is for your own safety.
Allergy to hair colourants can be fatal.
Please be aware that you may forfeit your booking deposit if you do not visit us to have an allergy test performed in good time.
At Fox Hair Design we offer two options,
- Our preferred option is using Colourstart Passport,
- Alternatively you could book in for a traditional “patch test”.
Choosing between Colourstart and a traditional allergy patch test for assessing a reaction to hair dye depends on various factors.
Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:
Colourstart Patch Test
Pros:
- Convenience
Colourstart is a self-administered test that only has to be performed once. - Quick Results
You typically get results within 48 hours. - Specific to Hair Dye
Designed specifically for assessing allergies to PPD (para-phenylenediamine), a common hair dye allergen. - Regulated Product
Colourstart is a licensed medicine in the UK, meaning it has undergone safety and efficacy assessments.
Cons:
- Limited Scope
Primarily tests for PPD; may not cover other potential allergens in hair dye.
Traditional Allergy Patch Test
Pros:
- Comprehensive
Can test for a wide range of allergens, not just PPD. - Supervised
Conducted under colourist supervision, ensuring proper application and interpretation of results.
Cons:
- Time-Consuming
Typically requires multiple visits as it has to be repeated very six months. - Inconvenience
May involve more inconvenience due to Salon visits and longer waiting times for results. - Discomfort
Some people find the patches uncomfortable to wear for extended periods.
Primary Considerations
- History of Allergies
If you have a history of severe allergies, a comprehensive traditional patch test might be more appropriate. - Convenience and Speed
If you need quick results and prefer the convenience of only ever testing once, Colourstart could be a better choice. - Type of Dye
Consider if you frequently change hair colour, if you do, and you opt for traditional allergy testing you will need repeated allergy tests.
Our Recommendation
If you want a quick and convenient test, Colourstart is our preferred option.
However, if you have a broader range of allergies or need a comprehensive evaluation, a traditional allergy patch test under salon supervision might be more suitable.
Always consult your Fox Hair Design Colourist or with a healthcare provider to make the best choice for your specific situation.
Cancellation
Our cancellation policy is strictly 48 hours notice.
If we don’t receive 48 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment then we may miss the opportunity to fill the space, and guests on our waiting list miss the chance to come and see us for some well deserved pampering.
Should we not receive 48 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment, we reserve the right to withhold your booking deposit and/or charge a late cancellation fee equal to 50% of the original appointment value.
Late Arrival
Sometimes things happen outside of our control; traffic, the weather, or being unable to find a parking space can make you late for an appointment.
Please give the salon a call if you think you may be late. Usually we can honour your appointment up to 15 minutes after it’s scheduled start time. If you are more than 15 minutes late we may have to cancel your appointment, we’re really sorry but we can’t impact other guests appointments because of late arrival.
When we cancel an appointment due to late arrival you will forfeit your booking deposit.
No Shows
If you fail to attend an appointment you will be asked to pay for the appointment that you missed. You will also be asked to pre pay, for future appointment bookings.
We completely understand that things can happen at the last minute, and we can assure you that we will be sympathetic if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
All we ask for is 48 hours’ notice. Should you fail to attend an appointment that has been prepaid, or notify us of a cancellation with less than 48 hours’ notice, you will forfeit your booking deposit.
